Location is excellent. The room was clean. The staff was helpful. The continental breakfast was great, with adequate selection of food.
Practically no foyer. Parking is a bit cumbersome but acceptable.
It is an excellent location to be right in the city centre. The room was very large for such an old area. There is a lovely courtyard behind the hotel which was nice to sit in and take a break from a busy day of site seeing
The air flow for the ac was not very good. Old building completely forgiveable. They would benefit from the above window units, like they have in europe.
The hotel was very well located in beautiful old Quebec city. It was very close to everything, well within walking distance. The hotel was very clean and picturesque in an old century building. Staff wtere pleasant and helpful and vallet parking was very helpful as parking in old Quebec city is very hard to find.
The room was very small and the halls and stairs very narrow.
The good location, close to the center of old city but separated enough for calm. Good welcome from the staff. Decoration and comfort of the room are pleasant. The room is quite small for the price, but well equiped and disposed, with several windows.
No breakfast included despite the price, air conditionning very noisy, access to the rooms uneasy (no elevator, tiny staircases). The doors of the room don't isolate at all from the noise in the corridors (but the other people were also calm). A good hotel to stay in, with children for example or in couple, but quite expensive however.
Quaint hotel which suits it's surroundings. Stayed there since the rate was fair, according to others in the area, and it was the only hotel at which I could find two beds in the one room. I was travelling with my brother, attending our nephew's wedding at the Chateau Frontenac. Never been in the area before but would stay there again.
Staff are friendly, good rate and good location
The room was not bad, position really ok!!!
The hotel (not the room) was old and look not so good, poor breakfast
The staff was friendly and made recommendations and reservations at restaurants for me.
Perfectly situated in the heart of Old Quebec city. Parking building about a block away and $12 for 24 hrs. Old city is filled with boutiques and the prices are not cheap but the buildings themselves, ambience and european feel make it a magic. There's a laundry mat about 100 metres from the hotel - change machines for notes and coins - $1:50 for a cold wash and 25c for 4 mins in the dryer - open 7am - 9pm. The Hotel is a small, cosy, warm, aged dwelling. Rooms are not big nor luxurious but more than adequate for the budget conscious traveller. Hotel staff were very accommodating, suffered our poor attempts at French but spoke English to ease our embarassment. Location, Location, Location and suitably priced says it all!
I liked the location of the hotel as it was walking distance from everything. I also found the hotel clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Noisy in the morning from footsteps from floor above. Of course it is an old building with wooden floors so it is to be expected.
a bit pricy for what you offered. free parking and breakfast should have been included
The hotel had charm. If you're staying in the "Old Fortress", the old walled city of old Quebec, it's nice to get a feeling of 'going back' in your hotel! We were originally going to stay at the Hilton and we were so glad we didn't and stayed here instead. The hotel was probably in the best location, right in the middle of the walled city. There was a Celtic festival going on right at our doorstep, but other than that, it was appropriately secluded. However, it was 3-5 minute walk from everything, so we could pop back in to drop off shopping, have a tall drink, (Quebec is expensive, so having a fridge in your room and being able to go back to the room, have a nice drink and get out your iPad and contemplate the afternoon was a big plus.
The rooms are small but the Value for money is still excellent. Nice shower, but the tub is not big enough for a bath. Breakfast not included, go to the Omelet place up the street, or brunch by the restaurants just by the funicular. You can people watch and plan your day.
Location, historic structure, staff friendliness, cleanliness.
Continental breakfast should be included in the room rate. Double bedroom very small and cramped with dresser doors that are hard to pull out/push in. Stairs to second floor very, very steep and narrow.
The hotel was centrally located in the old city and it was an easy walk to most tourist areas. It was a good value in a historic old building. The owner and staff were helpful and friendly. We had two rooms, number 22 was smaller but had a surprise balcony with a table and chairs out the oversized window . This proved to be a gathering point for snacks and discussion. A light breakfast was convenient, but was an additional $6.50 per person. It was probably a good value, but your choice to buy.
The hotel is in an older style building, but nicely modernised. There is no lift, and the stairs are steep, but the staff were happy to help with caryying cases to our room.
